A Hobby Recommendation: Buy Football Cards Issued in 2002

One of  the great benefits of the annual April NFL draft is that it gives collectors an advance preview of the key players who will make their trading card debuts later that year.

Cable TV giant ESPN, and, to a lesser degree the NFL itself, does an outstanding job marketing the draft. Each year the spectacle seems to get more media hype and publicity. So much publicity in fact that we all knew early as March that David Carr would be chosen as the top pick in the draft. We almost certainly knew Julius Peppers would stay home in North Carolina with the Carolina Panthers.
